The schedule with the challenges/patrons listed:

9:30: Fyt the First: [warmups]

Ensemble Tale: The Journey as I Saw It
Northshielders are nothing if not inclusive. All those who wish to participate get up together, and tell a tale from beginning to end, with the sponsor 'conducting' by pointing to the person whose turn it is to continue the tale, and deciding when it is time to end. The title of the story is "The Journey as I Saw It". You might get pointed at multiple times, so be ready! Patron: Dahrien

Tangle Box
Given a list of 20 words and a list of tunes, compose a song to one of the tunes that uses as many of the words as you can. Patron: THL Madeleine Bynortheweye

"To grant whatever you would crave..."
Lovers have pledged some really dumb things to show their beloved that they care, from climbing the highest mountain to swimming the deepest ocean. What would you do to impress your love? Or, if you're not feeling amorous, what would you do for your best friend, for your liege lord, or the Prince/Princess/King/Queen? Originator: Kudrun; Patron: Cerian Cantwr

10:30: Class Period I

11:30: Fyt the Second

Authenticity's Delight
Perform an original piece (yours or someone else's) in a period style, or perform a piece documentable to SCA period. Plan to briefly introduce the piece by saying what style it is in, and from when/where. Patron and originator: Ysolt

"It is a kingly thing, a city..."
The Anglo-Saxon poem fragment, "The Ruin" (http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/~aczsjm/wap/angsp.html), describes a prosperous city simultaneously in life, during its destruction, and as an abandoned ruin. In song, story, poetry, etc., give a portrait of a city or community at at least two different times in its history. This could be a real historical city or an SCA group or region. Anglo-Saxon or Viking-style works are encouraged but not required. Patron: (reserved for Royalty in attendance)

(lunch during Fyt the Second and 1/2 hour lag time--possible Bardic Aerobics!)

1:00: Fyt the Third

Just Duet
Perform a song, story, poem, or other bardic/musical work with one other person. Show how two voices can be better than one. For musical works, harmony is encouraged. Patron: Baroness Josceline and Cybele of Rowangrove

"And now a word from our sponsor..."
Street cryers provided commercials in period. Sometimes their ads were set to popular songs. Give us a commercial for a period product or service (remember this is a family show...!). Originator: Kudrun; Patron: Viscountess Elashava

2:00 Class Period II

3:00 Fyt the Fourth

Sonnet Prompt
When you sign up for this challenge, draw a first line from the [hat/envelope] and keep it. During the day, write a sonnet with this for the first line, and perform it. A short guide to sonnet form will also be near the signup sheet. Originator: Adelaide; Patron: Elena Tangwystl of Morgan

The Coming of the Spring
Those of us who live on the northern prairie have learned to endure, survive, and thrive, even through the harshest winter. Yet the winter is not truly what defines us, for endless winter will ultimately crush even the hardiest soul. The heart, joy, and hope of the children of the Griffin comes from the knowledge that the Spring shall surely come. Sing, recount, or demonstrate the importance of the Spring. Originator: THL Peregrine the Illuminator; Patron: Master Owen Alun

In a Foreign Tongue Perform a period or period-style original piece in a foreign language. Emphasis is on the ability to "translate through performance" (i.e. while maintaining persona), but performers are also encouraged to provide separate translations or perform the piece again in English. Patron: Deirdre inghen ui Bardàin

4:15 Court (subject to time change)
After Court: meeting of the Northshield Bardic College (all are welcome!)

6:00 Feast and Fyt the Fifth

Bard Scribe Illuminator
Given a subject in the morning, compose, calligraph, and illuminate a text on that subject. This may be done individually or as a team. Patron: (someone to be designated by Margaret Malise de Kyrkyntolaghe, who will not be able to be at the event)

Blow Someone Else's Horn
Perform the work of some other SCA person. Extra applause for memorizing, and for doing something that is not well-known. Originators: Ysolt/Dahrien; Patron: Chandler

Singing For Your Supper
Format, content and subject selection for this challenge are fairly wide-open: original work (of yours or another's), documentable-to-period or Current Middle Ages. Emphasis here is the selection and delivery of a work that recognizes and caters to the unique environment of the feast hall as a performance venue. Patron: Garraed Galbraith
